Documents required for importing used household goods, personal effects, and related shipments.
- Inventory list in Albanian (valued, dated, signed; category-based)
- Copy of diplomatic passport
- Diplomatic note from relevant embassy in Tirana (directed to customs)
- Copy of diplomatic ID
- Copy of NIPT (Identification Number of Taxable Person of the Embassy)
- Completed online application: https://e-albania.al/ (below listed documents are needed for this step). Authorisation needs to be sent to Destination Agent
- Inventory list in Albanian (valued, dated, signed; category-based)
- Notarized copy of passport
- Work certificate from employer (original, stamped; work period >12 months)
- Job contract (translated and notarized; period >12 months)
- Work permit
- Residence permit (temporary residence permit not accepted)
- Notarized lease contract of apartment
- Letter of authorization to handle customs formalities
- Packing list (translated into Albanian)
- Proforma invoice for goods
- Declaration from shipper or employer stating reason for immigration
- Copy of passport
- Online application via e-Albania portal (https://e-albania.al/ ) for duty exemption
- Request for duty exemption including list of used personal goods
- Original birth certificate
- Notarized copy of passport
- Family certificate
- Certificate of change of residence from origin country
- Residence permit abroad (translated and notarized)
- Proof of living abroad for at least 1 year (lease, employer confirmation, police declaration, etc.)

Duty-Free Conditions
- Goods must be used personal or household effects
- Reasonable quantities only
- Duty exemption authorization must be approved prior to clearance
- Authorization is usually valid for one month and must align with arrival date
Duties Apply To
- Shipments without approved duty exemption
- Non-diplomatic shipments without qualifying agreements
Additional Notes: Customs reserves the right to request additional documents. If exemption is not granted, duties and taxes of approximately 38% of the value of goods (proforma invoice and freight costs) may apply.
