Global Moving Foundation

The Global Moving Foundation, formerly the Alan F. Wohlstetter Scholarship Fund, seeks to enhance the professionalism of the global household goods moving industry by supporting the professional development and education of students and industry professionals worldwide. It accomplishes this through the award of scholarships to qualified persons either to attend accredited colleges, universities and technical schools (Wohlstetter Academic Awards) or approved industry training programs for the purpose of education designated fields (Industry Training Program). Learn more about both programs below.

Wohlstetter Academic Awards

We are proud to offer the Wohlstetter Academic Awards, sponsored by the Global Moving Foundation (GMF), offering up to ten (10) $5,000 USD scholarships to support the educational journey of IAM members, their dependents, and student members! The application period will be open from January 1 to March 31.
The scholarship fund is the cornerstone of the International Association of Movers’ educational assistance initiative. Named for distinguished Association founder and General Counsel Emeritus Alan F. Wohlstetter, the fund benefits the employees of IAM member companies and their dependents, as well as students. Applicants for the educational scholarship may also apply for the Jackie Agner Award for Community Service as part of their application. The Jackie Agner Award for Community Service is an additional monetary award given to one selected applicant that has demonstrated significant involvement with their school and/or community through volunteer service and charity work.

Graduating high school seniors and college students are eligible to apply. Preference will be given to students interested in transportation and the global mobility industry and/or pursuing disciplines in related fields of study that are applicable to the global mobility industry. For example, if you are studying to be a doctor or a nurse, you are not eligible for this scholarship. If you have any questions about your eligibility, please contact scholarship@iamovers.org to verify. Applicants may also now apply in other languages. Please see the application for more information.

Students receiving tuition assistance from the Global Moving Foundation come from different countries, cultures, companies, and backgrounds. Since its launch in 2002, the AFW Scholarship Fund has awarded more than 136 merit-based scholarships of US$5,000 each. Scholarships are available for study in the USA and overseas.
