One of the key strengths of the International Association of Movers is its inclusivity. The reasonable membership requirements and dues structure welcome a diverse range of companies of all sizes and scopes of service. Unlike organizations built on exclusivity, IAM recognizes that companies which may not yet have size, age, or quality certifications can still have their place in the industry as long as they operate with integrity.

This is a vibrant, dynamic market — and buyers must beware. In fact, isn't that our core competency as international movers? We are experts in selecting and managing our service partner networks. Second only to our own staff, our service partner network is perhaps the most critical aspect of our ability to deliver on the promises we make to our clients.

When ad-hoc collaboration between distant partners in different parts of the world works, it is a remarkable thing. At times, customers may never know of the potential service disasters that were averted thanks to excellent teamwork between industry partners.

Trusted relationships between companies, forged over time, are an essential part of successful collaboration. There are times, however, when we venture into new markets or new services and must establish new relationships. Disciplined supply chain management practices suggest we should benchmark service values periodically and test existing markets to ensure we are always making the right partner selections. Companies change over time, market prices vary, and new entrants may bring fresh innovations.

For these reasons, IAMX offers tools to help narrow partner searches by geo-location, capabilities, and qualifications. Most searches will return a number of matching companies — so how do you choose?

IAMX allows service providers to claim and edit their company profiles to keep them accurate and complete. It is an honor system that works fairly well — most companies will honestly list their true capabilities, memberships, licenses, and quality qualifications. However, even in the best systems, information can become outdated and qualifications can expire. Data integrity is an ongoing challenge.

The IAM has created the IAMX Validation program as a voluntary program for IAM members who wish to formally document and validate their qualifications and credentials. The process is straightforward: members upload scanned documents that validate their year of establishment, memberships, licensing, and quality and compliance qualifications. In search results, each current validation appears as a green checkmark. Expired or undocumented qualifications display as an orange cross. Simple, but effective.
