The IAM Leadership Alliance Council is a collaborative initiative that promotes a leadership approach that balances organizational success with a commitment to long-term vision, social responsibility, and innovation. The Council empowers members to navigate complexities and build a resilient future by addressing key challenges.

 IAM Excellence in Leadership Award Nomination 2025

The IAM Excellence in Leadership Award honors individuals who demonstrate outstanding leadership through measurable impact, ethical conduct, and a sustained commitment to people, organizations, and the broader global moving community.
The award recognizes leaders who not only deliver results but also lead with integrity, resilience, and purpose: strengthening teams, organizations, and the industry as a whole.

Leadership Award Selection Criteria for 2026 

Nominees will be evaluated across three leadership dimensions as defined below. These criteria guide both the nomination process and the IAM Leadership Alliance Council’s review. 

Why Nominate? 

Nominating a colleague or leader for the IAM Excellence in Leadership Award celebrates exemplary leadership and impact in the global moving industry. This award is your opportunity to highlight those who make a difference. Nominees and the recipient will be recognized at the IAM Annual Meeting & Expo in San Diego.  

Nominating is straightforward:

  • Prepare your nomination entry. 
  • Express yourself in your native language, reflecting the award’s international essence. 
  • Submit your nomination through our online form. 

Please note Submission will open on March 2 and close on August 3.

Eligibility and Submission 

  • Open to current IAM members (individual or employee of a member company). 
  • Nominations accepted by IAM members in good standing. 
  • Submission period: March 2 – August 3 .
  • Non-IAM members cannot submit nominations or be nominated.

The Leadership Dimensions that Nominee’s will be assessed against are:   

Leadership in Action
Question: Describe one or two specific situations, projects, or initiatives in which the nominee demonstrated outstanding leadership aligned with the Excellence in Leadership Award.

Guidance for nominators: 

  • What problem, risk, or opportunity existed? 
  • What actions did the nominee personally lead or influence? 
  • What changed as a result (people, performance, culture, trust, innovation, outcomes)? 
Measurable Impact 
Question: What measurable impact did the nominee’s leadership have on people, the organization, or clients?

Examples may include:  

  • Workforce growth, retention, or engagement
  • Operational, financial, or strategic improvements 
  • Client outcomes or stakeholder trust 
  • Knowledge-sharing or mentorship/professional growth 
Character & People-Centered Leadership
Question: Provide at least one concrete example of how the nominee has demonstrated ethical, resilient, and people-centered leadership. 

Examples may include:  

  • Crisis, risk, or change leadership 
  • Compliance or difficult decision-making 
  • Building strong, high-performing teams 
  • Fostering a respectful, high-trust workplace culture 
The 2025 recipient will be honored during the IAM Annual Meeting & Expo Closing Celebration Luncheon on October 27, from 1:30 to 3:30 PM. All nominees will also be recognized on screen in front of their peers during the event.

The Selection Process 

This prestigious award features a unique judging process: 
Anonymous evaluation: Judges review submissions without any self-identifying information about the candidates, ensuring a fair and unbiased selection based on merit. 

Submission Instructions:  

To support a strong nomination, please follow these guidelines: 
  • All sections of the form must be completed. 
  • Focus on specific leadership examples, not general praise. 
  • Clearly describe the nominee’s actions and the resulting impact. 

Recommended Format 

  • Approximately 150–250 words per narrative section.
  • Provide at least one real example in each main section

Previous Winners: A Source of Inspiration

  • 2022: Simon Hood, Owner of John Mason International, UK. Recognized for his remarkable leadership during challenging times including the Covid-19 crisis and global shipping issues.
  • 2023: Marcel Jörg, CEO of Gosselin Moving. He was celebrated for his transformative leadership, fostering team spirit, promoting equality, employee well-being, and work-life balance.
  • 2024: Charnel Francis, Business Development Manager for Africa Mobility Services, was honored for exemplary servant leadership, nurturing growth among colleagues, and uniting teams to achieve shared goals.
  • 2025 Wes Stewart, CEO of Stewart Moving and Storage, was nominated for his integrity, innovation, and people-first approach to leadership. With more than four decades in the moving industry, Wes has built a culture where drivers become owners, employees become leaders, and every move reflects his belief that true success begins with empowering others.
These leaders exemplify the spirit of the Excellence in Leadership Award, showcasing impactful leadership and a dedication to overcoming industry challenges.
