Moving companies engaged in the military market segment in the United States are facing an uphill battle to recover from the instability following the termination of the contract with HomeSafe Alliance by the Defence Department (DoD).

In comments to The Air Force Times, Dan Bradley, Vice President of Government and Military Affairs for IAM said that the association supported the quick action by the DoD on the Global Household Goods Contract (GHC) but highlighted the challenges faced by the industry to cover the volume of moves under the legacy system. “Our members are working feverishly to cover as many shipments as they can under the current constraints,” said Bradley.

The GHC was terminated last week with Pentagon spokesman, Sean Parnell, saying that the contract was terminated due to HomeSafe’s “demonstrated inability to fulfill their obligations and deliver high quality moves to service members.” In response, HomeSafe announced that they will be ceasing operations but completing all moves in progress for service members and their families.

Please Note: HomeSafe Alliance has voluntarily cancelled their IAM membership effective June 23, 2025. As is the case with all membership cancellations, if you have unpaid invoices related to this company, you may submit them for IAM’s awareness via the IIRS until October 21, 2025. Read the full Alert on HomeSafe’s IAMX profile.
