UniGroup has presented Tom Watson of IAM member The Armstrong Company its Lifetime Achievement Award, recognizing more than five decades of leadership at one of the largest agents for United Van Lines.
Watson’s father and uncle bought Armstrong Transfer and Storage in 1957, when it had two employees and one truck. By the time Watson joined full time in 1970, after graduating from the University of Memphis, Armstrong had 40 employees and two locations. He helped grow it into a national moving and supply chain company operating in 32 markets.
“Tom Watson’s career is not simply a story of professional achievement. It’s a testament to legacy, values, and, most importantly, putting people first,” said Gary Quintalino, chairman of the UniGroup board. “For his decades of service, vision, and boundless generosity, he’s more than worthy of this Lifetime Achievement Award.”
Watson served as co-chairman until February this year, when the company moved to its third generation of family leadership.
