The Port of La Guaira has resumed full operations after a six-week disruption triggered by the June 24 earthquakes, with vessel diversions to Puerto Cabello now canceled and air service at Caracas’ Maiquetía Airport expected to follow shortly.
In an update to ePortal IAMX Validated member MI Global reports that the Customs Office of La Guaira Port has officially closed its operational contingency, which has been in place since June 24 to manage infrastructure inspections and safety assessments. All shipping operations are returning to La Guaira, and temporary vessel diversions to Puerto Cabello and other alternative ports have been canceled.
According to the company, conditions have improved significantly in recent weeks, with origin and destination services returning to normal and carriers and port authorities resuming import and export activity and trucking, cargo handling, and warehousing services back online.
