Leading French shipping line, CMA CGM said that the company will re-reroute vessels on three of its services away from the Suez Canal due to global uncertainties.

Reuters reported that CMA CGM will temporarily reroute vessels deployed on its French Asia Line 1, French Asia Line 3, and Mediterranean Club Express services via the Cape of Good Hope, pointing to “the complex and uncertain international context.” Previously, the Marseille-based carrier appeared ready to expand its use of the Suez Canal route, with regular transits from January for an India-U.S. service.

As reported in e-Portal, the news follows the decision by Maersk, the world’s second-largest container line, to route one of its services through the Red Sea and Suez Canal from this month after two successful transits by container vessels.
